Albatross History 1976 – 1977. Paul makes it first! Paul excelled himself winning Reading first ever National Diving medal in the 13 – 15 age group. He took his Bronze medal home from Huddersfield home with pride.
1977 in Kensington at the Southern Counties Competitions saw Suzanne Smith recovered from a broken finger and diving to a Southern Counties gold medal in her age group 13 – 15 age group. She had been winner of the under 13 age group for the previous 3 years.
Meanwhile little Louise Taylor had shown a keenness for diving and it wasn’t too long before she was slicing the water with pointed toes and great style finishing a credible 4th out of 23 in the under 13 years section of the Southern Counties Age groups. She was only in her first year of competition.
It’s been 4 years since the 8 year old was praying along the board that she wouldn’t “fluff it!” – at the Reading Schools Diving event. She brings home the Gold National Age Group Medal from Cheltenham. A first National Gold for Reading.
