Albatross History 3-1977 Reading diving display team
‘Good future ahead’
This was the first time ever a diving team dived to music. Somersaulting and twisting, mixed with pure grace and streamlining, they hit the beats ‘spot on’ during the dreamy music of “Albatross.” Perfectly in time, they sliced through the water with precision. The floodlit pool added atmospheric delight. They took their final bow to thunderous applause.
This month was to be the continuing with style and very good things to come. In a few months “Albatross” Diving Club of Reading was to be born!
To this day in 2022 the diving displays continue to the sound of music, from classical, smooth, beat and rock. It is a feature remembered at all the galas and local events. It’s a time the divers of all ages mix and have fun, a leveller, and start rehearsal weeks ahead of a performance
