Albatross History-10-1979  Mayor of Reading Mr Charles Sage presented the Trophies alongside Mr Zimmermann.  Councillor Charles Sage and his wife Councillor Lady Mayoress Mrs Kathleen Sage had been very influential bringing the  Central Pool to Reading.  Main stalwarts of Reading Swimming Club for many years, they were instrumental in the building of the Pool.
Baby of the Club Juliet Green swam across the pool floating a bouquet of flowers behind to present to the Lady Mayoress.
Reading Royals Synchronised swimmers gave a high standard of beautiful swimming. This established club gave full support to the new diving club. A full audience loved it.
It all indeed lived up to the word “Gala” and has remained so to this present day.
