Albatross History-2-1977. First step into glamour. International Spectacular
Albatross History-2-1977. The Diving Team who performed a first time diving display to the music of Albatross. It was incredible, and also made history…because… on the horizon…
…a longed for specialised diving club was formed the following year and was called …’Albatross’ !
Thank you for your good diving at this Festival
The performance was for the Reading Royals Synchronised Swimming Club who hosted a large International Synchronised Swimming Festival at the Central Pool
More Progress
The Reading Diving Display Team gathered more members – Lindsay Rowan; Beverley Taplin and Diana Seward.
A new Southern Counties under 13 champion emerged at Crystal Palace – Marianne Green with Louise Taylor gaining the silver medal. Reading Diving Section monopolised the medal hoard over a few years in this particular event.
The diving section of Reading Swimming Club held the annual diving events and more and more names were popping up such as
Beverley Taplin; Susan Keary; Nicholas Ragg; Stephen Bolton; Barry Taplin. All won medals in their particular events.
The more experienced divers were performing higher degree of difficulty dives adding more somersaults and twists. An excellent two and a half somersault came from Paul Holton otherwise known in the Nationals and Southern Counties scene ‘The inward dive straight’ which, apparently, was the best anyone had seen!
