Albatross History 9 1980 Marianne and Louise in the English Schools Division 12 Diving Team, with self as Manager. Other members of the team came from Southampton Diving Club. Each Division covered six Counties. The event was held in Luton.

It was that time of year again, coming up to the Albatross second Anniversary Gala. I apologise for the poor quality of the intended programme of events. Reproducing from a book affects the quality of the pictures and script.
But beforehand there had been work to do… Two Albatross Divers travelled to Luton to the
ESSA – English Schools Swimming Association Diving Championships.
Front row L. Marianne Green and Louise Taylor R. were selected to represent Division 12 in the English Schools Diving Championships Joining them in the team were divers from Southampton. The divisions covered six Counties. They were both selected from their consistent past results and stringent qualifying rounds leading to the finals which were the top six places.
Marianne represented the Junior section 12/14 years and dived her 8 optional dives from either 1 metre or 3 Metre Springboard and fought it out with closest National rival Lisa Brace from North Bedfordshire. She earned a credible second place to Lisa in the final. Louise represented the Intermediate section 14/16 and dived her 8 optional dives from choice of both springboards, and came in at a deserved 5th place in the final, against stiff opposition. Both girls were an asset to the Division.
